Justice Vijay Bishnoi Sworn In As Chief Justice Of Gauhati High Court

GUWAHATI: Justice Vijay Bishnoi has been sworn in as the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court at a solemn function held at Raj Bhavan today in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on February 5.  

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Speaker Assam Legislative Assembly Biswajit Daimary, Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development Ranjit Dass, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Assam Paban Kumar Borthakur,  Advocate General Assam Devajit Saikia, DGP G.P.Singh, DGP, Meghalaya L.R.Bishnoi, Judges of Gauhati High Court, members from legal fraternity, and other senior officials of State govt. 

Justice Bishnoi, who was earlier serving as a senior puisne Judge in the Rajasthan High Court, was appointed to the position on January 8, 2013.

Before his judicial career, he practiced law at the Rajasthan High Court and the Central Administrative Tribunal in Jodhpur, specialising in civil, criminal, Constitutional, service, and election cases.

During his nearly eleven years as a High Court Judge, he has authored 652 reported judgments, demonstrating extensive experience in dispensing justice.
