GUWAHATI: Assam witnessed a significant appointment as Justice Arup Kumar Goswami was named the Chairperson of the Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC).
Justice Goswami's illustrious legal career has seen him hold prominent positions in various high courts across the nation. His connection to the legal sphere traces back to his beginnings as an advocate with the Bar Council of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura in the year 1985.
He was appointed as the Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court on October 15, 2019. Subsequently, he assumed the role of Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in 2021.
He was entrusted with the role of Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court on October 9, 2021. His journey also includes a tenure as a Judge of the Gauhati High Court.
