GUWAHATI: Various organisations, including the All Rabha Students Union (ARSU), have demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the death of Assam Police Sub-Inspector Junmoni Rabha.
The protesting organisations took out a rally in Boko on Friday. They submitted a memorandum to Assam Chief Minister through the Boko Revenue Circle Officer seeking an unbiased investigation into the "mysterious" death of the braveheart cop nicknamed "Lady Singham".
Hundreds of members from ARSU attended the rally on Friday, including the All Rabha Women Council, the Sixth Schedule Demand Committee, including other popular leaders.
In the memorandum, the organisations have demanded that the investigation be handed over to CBI as soon as possible.
Additionally, they demanded that the state government employ Junmoni Rabha's family with one-time assistance of ₹1 crore.
It is worth mentioning that SI Junmoni Rabha, who was in charge of the Morikolong Police Out Post in the Nagaon district, lost her life in a fatal road accident in Jakhalabandha on Tuesday, May 16, around 2 AM.
Meanwhile, ARSU general secretary Pradip Rabha has alleged that Rabha did not die in an accident, but she was murdered.
