GUWAHATI: In Guwahati, the twin ponds of Jorpukhuri, located in the heart of the city at Uzanbazar, is home to a large number of turtles.
The supposedly oldest among these turtles died today. According to locals the turtle was around 70 years of age.
The ponds abound the historic Tarakunda of Sri Sri Ugratara Devalaya (Shakti Peeth).

It is to be mentioned that Jorpukhuri is also home to swans and fishes and presents one of the more pristine and rustic ambiances in the city.
