GUWAHATI: In a major political development, Assamese actor and BJP member Jatin Bora has resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) protesting the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019. Bora announced this at the Latasil congregation in presence of thousands of protestors and several other artists from Assam who gathered at the playground to protest the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019.
Bora was holding the office of the Chairman of State Government-run Assam State Film Finance Development Corporation.
Earlier this week, Zubeen Garg had appealed to Jatin Bora to resign from the BJP to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
