IWT Likely To Suspend Ferry Services In Guwahati Due To Fog

GUWAHATI: The Inland Water Transport (IWT) is likely to suspend ferry services in Guwahati due to the foggy conditions.

The heavy fog from early morning on Thursday, January 23 has made it difficult for ferries to sail on the  Brahmaputra. This may cause a temporary disruption for passengers travelling or commuting using the ferry services.

The ferry services generally operate from 6 AM to 9 PM daily.

Talking to GPlus, a senior official from IWT said, “The ferry services are running normally today, but we may suspend it post 6 PM due to the weather conditions. And if such weather persists in the coming days, we may have to suspend the services till conditions improve.”


Guwahati residents awoke to an unanticipated cold & foggy morning, with overcast conditions prevailing on January 23. The day's maximum temperature is expected to reach around 24°C at approximately along with a minimum temperature of 14°C, today. 

Additionally, Guwahati is also set to experience continued foggy and misty mornings throughout the week, according to the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC).
