GUWAHATI: In the aftermath of the accident involving a police convoy and a two-wheeler near Vivanta at Khanapara on Sunday night, the Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh has assured that a thorough investigation is under way to bring the responsible party to justice.

The incident, which claimed the life of 28-year-old Rupam Jyoti Borah, was registered at the Dispur Police Station. DGP has further confirmed that authorities are actively pursuing lawful action against the driver involved in the accident.

The vehicle implicated in the collision, identified as a Bolero, has been seized for further examination and analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
Additionally, the process under the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) is being expedited for a comprehensive review of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
DGP GP Singh took to X to put out, “Reference Road Traffic Accident leading to death at Six mile - Sri Rupam Jyoti Borah lost his life in the said RTA. A case vide Dispur PS Case Number 198/24 was registered and is being investigated for lawful action against the driver of the vehicle. The Bolero Vehicle involved in the accident has been seized for further investigation. Process under MACT is also being expedited.”

It is to be noted that the driver of the police car was earlier apprehended on March 4. Further details are awaited.
