GUWAHATI: Unique Borah is the first name that comes to mind when we talk about the fashion photography scene of Guwahati.
Founder of FC Studio in Beltola, Guwahati, Unique Borah embarked on the journey of professional photography in the year 2013 and he has also branched out into the field of editing and providing training to other photography enthusiasts.
“Back when I was young, we used to see pictures of Bollywood actor/actresses like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Hritik Roshan as the wallpaper on computer screens. They made me wonder how such good quality pictures were actually clicked. I kept exploring and eventually ventured into fashion photography,” Borah recalled his journey while speaking exclusively to G Plus.
Unique Borah informed G Plus that while he first started clicking pictures on a mobile camera, his first camera was a Sony Point and Shoot. Today, he owes a highly equipped studio with state-of-the-art lighting set up. He currently owes a Canon 5 D, EOS R, R 5 and many other cameras and qualified lenses as well.
All these equipments, clubbed with his talent and experience, help capture the perfect moments in his pictures.
Unique Borah clicks all kinds of pictures including pre/post wedding pictures however, he specializes in fashion photography and portfolio shoots of models, designers and make-up artists.
Getting a portfolio shoot by Unique Borah is the dream of all models based in Assam. The shoots, starting at Rs 2500 per look, are complete value for money. This price is exclusive of costume and make-up costs.
In 2018, Unique Borah started a photography institute of his own “on public demand”.
In the last two and a half years, Unique Borah has provided photography training to around 250 people from across Assam at his fully functional, highly equipped FC Studio. He has also recently started editing classes.
During the classes, students are provided with both theoretical and hands-on practical knowledge. The highlight of the photography course is that students get a chance to capture pictures of a renowned celebrity at the end of the class and build their own portfolio.

Speaking to G Plus about the courses, Unique Borah said, “When I was just beginning photography, I faced difficulty finding a good teacher. I want my students to get value for money and learn as much as they can. As such, if within 10 days of joining the class, a student feels that he is not comfortable with my teaching style and doesn’t want to continue, they can drop out respectfully and their entire amount will be refunded.”
He further guaranteed that if a student completes the course by doing all classwork as well as homework punctually, seriously and passionately, they would quickly find a place in the fashion industry of Guwahati and start earning over Rs 50,000 / month within a year of the course.
