GUWAHATI: The 4th edition of the Inter IIT Chess Meet 2018 was held at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati from 5th to 10th December 2018.
Altogether 90 players comprising 15 teams from as many IIT's participated in this 7 round swiss league team championship. The participating teams were IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee, IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bhubaneshwar, IIT Hyderabad, IIT BHU Varanasi, IIT Dharwad, IIT Goa, IIT ISM Dhanbad, IIT Bhilai, IIT Gandhinagar, and IIT Patna.
Top seed IIT Bombay emerged champion, while last year champion IIT Kharagpur became runners-up and host IIT Guwahati was placed second runners-up in the championship.
The tournament was supported by Assam Chess Club and FIDE Arbiter Biswajit Bharadwaj was the Chief Arbiter of the event.
