Indian Railways to Resume Operation from 12 May

GUWAHATI: Indian Railways has announced that passengers trains are to resume services from 12th May, initially with 15 pairs of trains.

However, these would be special trains run from new Delhi stations to Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad and Jammu Tawi.

Passengers can book tickets from 4 pm on 11 May only on the IRCTC website (https://www.irctc.co.in/).

The Indian Railways informed that offline ticket booking counters will remain closed and no counter tickets (including platform tickets) will be issued.

Further, only passengers with valid confirmation tickets will be allowed to enter the station, mandatorily wearing face mask. Screening will be done on all passengers before departure and obly asymptomatic passengers will be allowed to board the trains.

More special train services on new routes will be provided based on the available coaches after reserving 20,000 coaches for COVID-19 care centers and an adequate number of coaches being reserved to enable operation of up to 3000 trains everyday as "Shramik Special" for stranded migrants.
