GUWAHATI: Indian Army's Lt General KC Panchanathan, the General Officer in Command of 101 Area, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at the age of 57 due to cardiac arrest in Shillong, as per a statement issued by the Indian Army.
According to Army officials, Lt Gen Panchanathan was rushed to the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) and died at around 8:30 PM Tuesday night.
The decorated officer had served the Indian Army in various capacities during his service before taking charge of the 101 Army base.
Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday condoled the death of the Indian Army’s 101 Area General Officer Commanding Lt Gen KC Panchanathan and expressed his grief over the sudden demise.
Taking to Twitter, Assam CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “I am in a state of shock at the demise of Indian Army’s 101 area General Officer Commanding Lt Gen KC Panchanathan. Having known him well and interacted many times, I found him to be an exemplary officer and a wonderful human being. Such a terrible loss.”
“My heartfelt condolences,” the Assam Chief Minister’s tweet added.
