GUWAHATI: India's capital city, New Delhi, is considered to be the world's most polluted capital by the United Nations (UN).
Unfortunately, following this feat, a garbage mountain in east Delhi, Ghazipur has made headlines.
The garbage mountain covers an area of 40 football pitches and rises over 10 meters every year leading to the production of its never-ending foul-smell, according to a report by NDTV.

In the report, East Delhi’s Superintendent engineer Arun Kumar said that the garbage mountain is already 65 meters (213 feet) high and if it continues to grow at this rate, it might tower over the Taj Mahal (73 metres high) by 2020.
Approximately 2000 tons of garbage is dumped at Ghazipur everyday, according to a Delhi Municipal authority.
A recent study has also stated that the dump is a health risk for people living in that area, 5 kms of its surrounding.
Indian cities are considered to be the world’s largest garbage producers, generating 62 million of waste annually.
