India Reports Second COVID-19 Death

GUWAHATI: Death of a 68-year-old woman from West Delhi was confirmed on Friday, March 13, as the second fatality in India due to coronavirus.

She had tested positive for COVID-19 and her death was confirmed to be caused due to co-morbidity (diabetes and hypertension), as per the press information bureau.   

The deceased had a history of contact with a positive case of coronavirus- her son who had travel history to Switzerland and Italy from February 5-22, 2020. He initially was asymptomatic, but developed fever and cough after one day.

It is to be mentioned that India has reported 82 cases of coronavirus till now. Further, India’s first fatality due to the disease was of a 76-year-old man from Karnataka who had returned from Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile the World Health Organisation (WHO) said that Europe is now the epicentre of the COVID-19 pandemic.
