“Bharat's first Hyperloop test track (410 meters) completed,” he shared a video of the same on X, as the achievement marks a united effort by Indian Railways, IIT Madras, and startup TuTr.
The Hyperloop concept, popularised by Elon Musk in 2012, involves using pods that carry passengers through low-pressure tubes at extraordinary speeds, offering a revolutionary alternative to conventional travel methods.
This system is designed to transport 24–28 passengers between locations without intermediate stops, making it an efficient solution for high-speed travel.
The project has been a joint initiative of the Avishkar Hyperloop team at IIT Madras and TuTr, a startup incubated at the institution. The Avishkar team comprises 76 students, including both undergraduate and postgraduate members.
