GUWAHATI: IMD has predicted heavy rainfall with extremely heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning over the northeast region during the next three days.
Southwest monsoon has been recorded to be active over Assam & Meghalaya and was normal over Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram and Tripura meteorological sub-division, as per the official report from IMD. This will reportedly facilitate moderate to heavy showers over the majority of the parts of Assam along with other northeastern states.
IMD has predicted light to moderate rainfall at most places with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in Assam and Meghalaya with extremely Heavy Rainfall at isolated places of Meghalaya.
The IMD predicted the probable impacts of the storm which includes poor visibility leading to traffic congestion, Temporary Disruption of traffic due to water logging in roads/ uprooting of trees/ breaking of tree branches, Uprooting of trees causing damages to power sector, Possible damages to vulnerable structures due to heavy to very heavy rain, flash flood and water logging in many parts of low lying area.
