IIT-Guwahati Professor Summoned by NIA

GUWAHATI: After Himanta Biswa Sarma’s indication to a leading academician from Assam, who had been tryimng to orchestrate the burning of the Assam Secretariat in Dispur, Professor Arupjyoti Saikia from Indian Insititute of Technology, Guwahati has been summoned by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

He had been summoned on grounds of his involvement in the violent anti-CAA protests in Guwahati.

He is a professor of History in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIT-G.

Sarma had earlier hinted at having electronic evidence of an prominent intellectual from a Central Government institution who had been coordinating with the attackers without giving out a name.

It is to be mentioned that Professor Arupjyoti Saikia has been summoned in the same case in which KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi has been arrested.
