GUWAHATI: Continuing with the alcohol seizures as part of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) drive in Assam, the Commissionerate of Excise, Assam, has seized liquor with an estimated value of ₹7.04 crore. The cumulative seizure during this phase amounts to 3.28 lakh litres of illegal liquor.

A substantial quantity of illegal liquor valued at ₹0.28 crore were seized on April 19 on the first day of elections held across five constituencies. A total of 23.68 thousand litres of illicit alcohol were confiscated across the state.

These seizures come as part of ongoing measures to crack down on illegal liquor activities during the MCC period in districts conducting the first phase of elections.
