GUWAHATI: Researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati have paved the way for better water management policies in India.
The policies are an outcome of collaboration between Dr. Anamika Barua, Professor, Department of Humanities and Social Science, IIT Guwahati and scientists from the University of Zaragoza, Spain to study the factors governing Virtual Water Flow.
Explaining the research, Dr. Anamika Barua said, “Virtual water flows assessment is aimed to induce sustainable use that can lead to water security.”
The Virtual Water flows analysis can help in framing evidence-based water policies and establishing the link between hydrological, economic, institutional aspects of water scarcity.
The results of this research have been published in the Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Water Resources Research, and Journal of Water.
