IIT Guwahati Aligns Itself With National Education Policy 2020

 

GUWAHATI: As the country gears up to commemorate the third anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 on July 29, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati took steps to align itself with the policy.

The key initiatives undertaken by IIT Guwahati to align with NEP 2020 include the establishment of Multidisciplinary Academic Centres and Schools. These centres cater to various domains such as Disaster Management and Research, Intelligent Cyber Physical Systems, Indian Knowledge Systems, Sustainable Polymers, Drone Technology, Sustainable Water Research, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Energy Science and Engineering, Agro, and Rural Technology, and Health Science and Technology.

These centres offer inter and multidisciplinary programmes, such as B.Tech in Energy Engineering, M.Tech in Biomedical Science and Engineering with Specialisation in Medical Devices and Diagnostics, Dual Degree (M.Tech + PhD) programmes, and more, providing ample opportunities for students to explore diverse fields.

To enhance employability, IIT Guwahati has introduced online degree programmes, including Bachelor's Degree and B.Sc. (Hons) in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, with upcoming PG programmes in Robotics, Machine Learning, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, the institute is actively involved in establishing Assam Advanced Healthcare Innovation Institute (AAHII) in collaboration with the Government of Assam, aiming to leverage advanced technologies in medical science.

IIT Guwahati collaborates with Samagra Shiksha, Assam, under the Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan, to foster scientific temper in state-run schools in Assam. The institute also includes welfare clubs like the Artificial Intelligence Community of IIT, Robotics Club, and Consulting and Analytics Club.
