GUWAHATI: Guwahati’s Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), currently located in Sachal Path, is set to shift to a new location in Bhangagarh. The Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has confirmed that the process is already underway, with land finalisation and construction work progressing rapidly.

Talking to GPlus, a senior official from GMDA said, “IHM Guwahati, which was earlier in Sachal Path, will be relocated to Bhangagarh. A plot of land under AIDC (Assam Industrial Development Corporation) has been finalised, and work has already started. Once the project is completed, the institute will officially shift to the new location.”
According to the GMDA official, “The new campus will feature 7-8 fully equipped kitchens, ensuring that students receive hands-on training in a state-of-the-art environment. The project budget has been set at approximately Rs 2-3 crore, and we expect construction to be completed within three months.”
The shifting has been necessitated to clear the Silsako beel, a wetland on which it is located. Several other structures there will also be relocated from there.
