GUWAHATI: A student preparing for the JEE exams died by suicide at a rented house in Guwahati’s Manik Nagar area on Thursday, April 3.
The deceased, identified as Sandeep Khairi, was a resident of Biswanath Chariali.
Talking to GPlus, a police official from Dispur police station said, “He had been staying in Guwahati for the past few months to prepare for the JEE exams and was enrolled at a private coaching institute.”
Sandeep was to reportedly appear for the JEE entrance examination scheduled to start today, April 4. While the exact cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained, the official said primary reports suggest exam-related stress could be a possible reason.
Authorities have sent the body for post-mortem and are in contact with the family members.
