High Level Committee to be formed for ST Status

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government’s cabinet to form a High-Level Committee to look into the issue of the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Amendment Bill. 

This decision was reached upon during a meeting held in New Delhi with Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh and Assam’s Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal.

The committee will take into account the views and opinions of all stakeholders before coming to a conclusion, informed Hagrama Mohilary, the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief after the meeting. He also mentioned that no discussion happened regarding the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill during the mentioned meeting. 

Assam’s Finance Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, MPs Biswajit Daimary, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and former Minister and current MLA, Chandan Brahma also attended this meeting.
