Heroin Worth ₹9 Crore Busted In A Guwahati Bound Bus In Meghalaya

 

GUWAHATI: Meghalaya Police officials intercepted and searched a passenger bus at Nongpoh, which led to the recovery of a substantial quantity of heroin on Friday.

The incident unfolded when a night service bus, en route from Silchar to Guwahati was intercepted at a naka check post located in Nongpoh, within the Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya. This operation was conducted based on a tip-off regarding a heroin smuggling attempt, as per reports.

During the inspection of the bus, authorities uncovered a cache of heroin concealed within it. A total of 30 soap cases containing heroin were discovered and subsequently seized during the operation, as per reports. The combined weight of the seized narcotics amounted to approximately 921 grams.

The estimated value of the seized heroin has been ascertained to be approximately ₹9 crore in the international illicit narcotics markets.

Chief Minister Of Meghalaya Conrad Sanmga took to X to put out, “A significant drug bust! Further details are awaited as legal proceedings have been initiated.
