GUWAHATI: After a few hours of heavy rainfall on Wednesday morning, May 25, the people of Guwahati found themselves in knee-deep water in several parts of the city. Artificial floods in many key areas of the city, made the daily commute strenuous for students, office-goers and others.
Many roads in different parts of the city were under several feet of water including - Hatigaon, Beltola, Hatigarh Chariali, B Borooah Road, Chandmari and Noonmati.
Inevitably, cab and bike hailing services were severely disrupted, with many reporting cancelled trips and endless waits to be picked up.
“The continuous rains in Guwahati have made travelling really difficult, especially when we have to get to work in the morning and almost half of the city is plunged into waterlogged roads and bylanes.
Meanwhile, the Regional Met Centre (RMC) Guwahati in a forecast made on Wednesday, predicted a cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thunder showers for the next four days. Moreover, rain or thunderstorms is likely to occur on May 30 and 31.
