Headmistress Arrested For Carrying Beef To School In Assam

GUWAHATI: The Headmistress of a government school in Assam has been arrested by police on the accusation of carrying beef to school. 

The incident has been reported from Hurkachungi M.E School, located in Lakhipur area of Goalpara District.

The headmistress, Daliman Nessa, has been accused of bringing beef to the institution on the day of Gunotsav. She was questioned about the incident by the Lakhipur Police and later forwarded to judicial custody on Tuesday, May 17.

Talking to G Plus, Bhimkanta Pegu, Officer-In-Charge of Lakhipur Police Station said that during the lunch hour, one of the colleagues of Daliman Nessa came to know about it and started complaining. It later resulted in the questioning of Nessa and then she was sent to judicial custody.

Gunotsav is a yearly, state government activity to ensure quality elementary education with improved learning outcomes. During Gunotsav, State Ministers, IAS, IPS, IFS officers, and Class–I & II officers visit schools and take part in the process of evaluation through interaction with students and teachers.
