Hailstorm Reported In Parts Of Guwahati - Watch Full Video

 

GUWAHATI: After heavy rainfall throughout the day, Guwahati witnessed a hailstorm at around 11:15 PM.

Some parts of the area were quickly covered by a thick blanket of hailstone. The storm pursued for around 10-15 minutes before coming to a climax.

Social media was soon filled with pictures of hailstorms from across Guwahati and nearby areas.

Earlier, Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati was one of the worst affected by today’s heavy downpour. Soon after the late afternoon rain, videos of water leaking inside the airport with portions of the ceiling collapsing surfaced on social media.

Several flights were also affected because of the rain. A total of six flights were diverted to Agartala and Kolkata due to adverse weather conditions.

The IMD today have informed that a cyclonic circulation has been located above Assam at 1.5 km above mean sea level, while an east-west trough stretches from east Bihar to the northern Bay of Bengal across Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal at 0.9 km above mean sea level.
