GUWAHATI: As the new year unfolds, Guwahati along with much of Northeast India, is experiencing a severe cold wave, bringing temperatures plummeting to chilling lows. The effect of the cold wave, which is being felt across Guwahati and the rest of Assam, has intensified the winter chill, making bonfires a common sight as people try to stave off the biting cold.

Guwahati is expected to witness a maximum temperature of 24° Celsius and a minimum temperature of 12° Celsius on January 3.
The maximum temperature for the season till date has been recorded to be 28° Celsius as of January 1, 2025 with the minimum being 12.4° Celsius on the same. The minimum temperature as of January 2, 2025 has been recorded to be 14.8° Celsius with the maximum being 23° Celsius.The maximum temperature is to touch as high as 27° Celsius, and also drop to a minimum of 11° Celsius as per the forecast released by the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) throughout this week in Guwahati and nearby areas.
