The incident happened in Lakheswar Baruah Road, New Guwahati.

Initially, the family of the woman thought it was a hit and run case. "But then we discovered the injury mark and figured out that she was hit on the head. Her mobile was also snatched," said Arnab Kumar Sharma, son of the lady.

The family has filed a police complaint at Noonmati Police Station (PS). G Plus spoke to Pabitra Bhuyan, Officer in Charge (OC) of the PS, who confirmed the matter. "We are investigating the matter and so far we have not caught anyone," added Bhuyan.

The family has alleged increasing anti-social elements in the area. The police have also accepted the occurrences but stated that routine patrolling is underway. "There are just too many lanes in the area and one can even reach Chandmari to escape," the official told G Plus.
