Guwahati West Police District makes tenant verification compulsory

Guwahati: Taking cognisance of anti-social elements trying to seek hideouts in residential areas and likelihood of breach of peace and disturbance, the West Guwahati Police District has made tenant verification mandatory.

A new order issued by Bhanwar Lal Meena, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Guwahati West Police District states that no landlord/owner/person of any house/property which falls under the jurisdiction of Guwahati West Police District, should rent out any accommodation to any person, unless and until he has furnished the particulars of the said tenants to the ‘officer in charge’ of the respective police stations falling under jurisdiction.

The order also states that all intending tenants should inform in writing to the ‘officer in charge’ concerned in whose jurisdiction the premises fall.

For those dealing in property, will have to inform in writing, to the ‘officer in charge’ of the area.

This 30th June order shall remain in force for a period of 60 days till 29th August 2018.
