GUWAHATI: Two individuals accused of a rape case in Birubari, Guwahati, which reportedly occurred on Tuesday, were apprehended on the morning of October 26, according to reports.
During the Durga Puja celebrations, a horrifying incident came to light as a teenage girl was allegedly subjected to rape in the Birubari area of the city. The victim's family filed a case regarding the incident at the Birubari Police Station. On Wednesday, the police successfully apprehended one of the perpetrators at his residence and the other on the street.
An official from Birubari Outpost, speaking to GPlus, identified the first individual as Nayan Baroi and his relative who is a minor, both of whom have been arrested and are being interrogated. Both accused individuals are relatives, with one of them being the son of a tenant owner who lives nearby, and the other is related to the first accused.
The victim was reportedly living with her father in a rented accommodation in the Shankarpur area of Birubari. On October 24, following the incident, the victim's father lodged a complaint at the Birubari police station against both of them under the POCSO Act and sections 469/23, 448, 306, 344 of the Indian Penal Code.
