Guwahati: Transport Dept Collects over Rs 14 Lakh from Unruly City Buses

GUWAHATI: The District Transport Office (DTO) Kamrup (M) has been conducting regular drives against unruly city buses. 


R. Islam, DTO (Permit) speaking to G Plus said, "Before the lockdown we had conducted drives regularly and set strict rules for the buses. But after months of lockdown they have forgotten all rules and have resorted back to their old self. So we are starting all over again."


Since 1st September 2020, the authorities have found a total of 515 offenders. 400 of these cases have been disposed off already and Rs. 14,14,500 have been collected. 115 of these are yet to be disposed.


The offences include open doors while commuting from one stop to the other, halting in between stations, picking up passengers through the wrong door etc.


Six enforcement inspectors are actively participating in these drives.
