Guwahati To Receive An Urban Forest In The Heart Of The City

 

GUWAHATI: Assam Government is planning to build an urban forest at Borbari, Guwahati to promote greenery and the environment.

According to official reports, it will be built as the hillock at Borbari which will be converted into a forest.

With a space of 4 sq km on the hillock it reportedly has enough space to house 1400 tree saplings.

According to government claims, this will also lead to the geological stability of the hillock and the surrounding areas.

The project will be undertaken by GMDA.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma took to Twitter to put out, “We are planning to build a forest in the heart of Guwahati.”
