GUWAHATI: In light of the ongoing Durga Puja festivities and the Swachh Durga Puja Pandal initiative, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has announced the formation of committees tasked with assessing the various pandals in Guwahati. The teams have already started visiting the pandals.
These committees have been appointed to evaluate the pandals according to a certain criteria. Their primary responsibility will be to visit pandals within their respective jurisdictions and assign marks based on the criteria outlined.
The assessment committees will diligently maintain evaluation sheets for each pandal they visit. The marked assessments will be submitted to Mriganka Choudhury (ACS), the Additional Commissioner of GMC, for further processing.
In the event of a tie or any disputes related to the assessments, the Additional Commissioner of GMC will serve as the final arbiter. By evaluating the Durga Puja pandals, GMC aims to encourage the organisers and the public to actively participate in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene during the celebrations, a senior official of GMC said.
