GUWAHATI: The Assam government has suspended Indreswar Kalita, IAS (SCS-2012), Secretary to the Excise Department, following his arrest by the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell. Kalita was detained on January 29 in connection with Vigilance P.S. Case No. 02/2024 under Sections 13(1)(b), 13(2), and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The order was issued by the Personnel (A) Department of the Assam government on February 6.
As per orders, Kalita is deemed to have been suspended from the date of his arrest and will remain suspended until further notice. His headquarters during this period will be in Guwahati.
During the suspension, Kalita will receive a subsistence allowance as per the provisions of the Fundamental Rules (F.R.) & Supplementary Rules (S.R.).
