Guwahati Smart City Limited to light up city's Shady Areas

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Smart City Limited (GSCL) is going to start a project soon to eliminate all the shady areas along the main roads in Guwahati and to replace all streetlights with LED lights.

According to GSCL, a thorough survey of roads of the city was undertaken to identify the major roads for the project and the approximate length of the roads to be covered under this project is around 137 km.

The project requires around 6,400 electric poles to be set up. Roads of 7m, 9m, 10m, 12m, 15m, and 20m width have been considered for the purpose.

It is to be mentioned that there are several dark spots in the major routes of the city and the area-wise distribution of streetlights has also been questioned previously.
