This is based on the data from the Central Pollution Control Board as of 12 PM on November 1.

The AQI readings from various locations around the city were as follows:

LGBI Airport recorded an AQI of 132, IIT-Guwahati reported an impressive 59, Pan Bazar noted a significant drop to 33 while Railway Colony reported 51.

In contrast, the day after Diwali in November 2023 painted a different picture, with 'poor' air quality levels across the board:

Railway Colony had an AQI of 250, LGBI Airport was at 241, Pan Bazar recorded 234 and IIT-Guwahati stood at 200.

This Diwali, Guwahati saw a rise in demand for eco-friendly firecrackers.

While the city’s malls continue to line their showcases with lights and decorative items, street stalls had taken to selling green firecrackers, as there has been a notable shift towards eco-friendly choices in recent years.
