GUWAHATI: Due to the intense heat affecting the region, the Elementary Education Department of Assam's Kamrup Metropolitan District has directed schools to ring a water bell three times a day and hold morning assemblies indoors.

This order as of May 22 is put out to ensure that students stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water amid the hot weather. Additionally, schools are instructed to conduct morning assemblies inside classrooms or on verandas instead of in open spaces or fields.
The order issued by the Inspector of School, Kamrup Metro to the headmaster of all schools states, “In inviting a reference to the subject cited above as we are aware that from last week excessive heat wave is heating us. As a result, sweating, headache and other health issues may attack the students. As such in order to avoid any untoward incident among students, drinking sufficient water is inevitable. Therefore, you are requested to ring the water bell thrice every day during school hours, in order to ensure that every student drinks sufficient water to keep hydrated. You are also requested to arrange the morning assembly inside the classroom or in the school veranda rather than in the open space or field,” the order added.
