GUWAHATI: The Cyber Police Station (PS) team of Guwahati Police recovered ₹20 lakh after a victim was scammed out of ₹40 lakh in an online fraud involving a fake consultancy for NEET (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test) services.

The scam came to light when the victim reported a loss of ₹40 lakh, which had been transferred to fraudulent consultants promising assistance with NEET preparations and admissions. The authorities initiated an investigation and traced a portion of the stolen funds.
Through cyber forensics and coordination with banking institutions, the police managed to recover ₹20 lakh of the defrauded amount. Efforts are currently underway to trace and recover the remaining ₹20 lakh.
The Guwahati Police has urged citizens to remain vigilant against online fraud and to report any suspicious activities immediately.
