Guwahati roads get a face-lift ahead of Durga Puja

GUWAHATI: As Guwahati gears up for the festive season, the PWD Department is working in full pace to make life comfortable for the residents.

Workers and engineers were seen working at odd hours and on holidays to finish the work and move to the next. Most of Guwahati's roads are getting repaired and potholes are being filled in most of the localities.

Repair work on roads can be seen in front of Arya Bidyapeeth College, Maligaon, Kamrup Academy Road, and also in front of Sonaram field, near Bharalumukh. The two main roads, Srimanta Sankardev Path and R G Baruah Road or the Zoo Road are also being repaired and improved.

State PWD Minsiter, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has been uploading images on social media about the progress and his sudden visits to the work sites. The minister can be seen talking to the labourers and contractors in these images.

The government has also started the beautification works for the city and many footpaths and other areas are being re-constructed at notable places.
