GUWAHATI: Repeated attempts of hooliganism have been registered across the city. The most recent has been the Hotel Palacio case, where a group of boys beat the chef for serving food late.

Few of the members from a similar group have been also alleged to a part of the group that threatened Zubeen Garg during the COVID-19 lockdown. An FIR has been filed by Zubeen at the Dispur Police Station in this regard. As per the FIR, a Maruti Ciaz with registration number AS 01BY 0675 overtook Garg's vehicle near Ganesh Mandir. After halting, about six people came out and started abusing the singer verbally and "defamed" him. Reportedly the attackers were drunk as they were holding beer bottles during the night curfew hours.

Meanwhile, the Dispur police have clarified to G Plus about the links of the attackers with the Zubeen Garg incident to that of the Palacio Hotel brawl. They are still trying to locate the accused who has been absconding.

"We have found his number to be switched off and have attempted to locate him," said Prafulla Das, Officer in Charge (OC) of Dispur Police Station. The police source however identified the prime accused to be one Krishanu Sharma.

As per sources, another incident has also been linked to the same person near Gauhati Commerce College (GCC). A businessman was attacked at a pharmacy near GCC back in September 2020 wherein a phone was also snatched from him.

G Plus contacted Commissioner of Police (CP) Munna Prasad Gupta who revealed to G Plus that the witness of the incident later denied getting beaten by the alleged accused when the Police tried to produce the matter to the court. An interesting part of the case was that the witness had denied in the production stage even before the trial. Usually, the witness statements are given when the trial begins.

The CP has further stated that action will be taken against those involved in the matter.
