Guwahati Police, Special Task Force Nab Fake Note Peddler, Seize Large Amount Of Cash

GUWAHATI: Guwahati’s Basistha police in association with the Special Task Force busted a major fake currency racket operating in the city on Monday, May 5, evening. The joint operation led to the recovery of large amount of counterfeit currency notes, along with ₹1, 49, 000 in cash, a mobile phone and a scooty used in the illegal trade.

A senior officer from the Basistha Police Station, speaking to Gplus said, “We jointly conducted a raid at Kerakuchi based on a tip-off by our sources last evening and apprehended one Abedur Rahman (33), who is a resident of Hajo of Kamrup (Rural) district.

Further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the network and any other associates involved in the crime.

The operation was led by Basistha PS Officer-in-Charge Kapil Pathak.
