Guwahati Police Seize 11 Stolen Motorcycles, Arrest Four In Bijoynagar

 

GUWAHATI: Guwahati Police recovered 11 stolen motorcycles and arrested four individuals in an operation spread across Bijoynagar and Chayygaon areas on Monday, March 17.

The police arrested four suspects, identified as Iman Ali, Satyajit Kalita, Gokul Haloi, and Zubin Bora from Bijoynagar, and recovered one motorcycle from the area. On the other hand, 10  motorcycles were recovered from Chayygaon. 

Speaking to GPlus, an official from Gorchuk Police Station said, “We seized around 11 stolen motorcycles and arrested four individuals near Bijoynagar locality. 10 from Chaygaon and one from Bijoynagar. One of the motorcycles recovered was under a case of Boragaon. Other cases are being ascertained. Investigation is on to determine the other people involved in the group or racket.”

Guwahati police also dismantled a major vehicle theft racket on the same day, leading to the arrest of seven individuals and the recovery of 14 more stolen motorcycles. The racket involved transporting stolen vehicles from Assam to Manipur and was uncovered following a complaint filed on March 11 by Rajib Duwari from Lakhimpur regarding his stolen bike. The motorcycles were stolen from various locations and transported using a bus with registration number MN-01-2195, which has also been seized.
