GUWAHATI: Guwahati police have refunded a portion of the total defrauded amount to a cyber fraud victim after intervention by the Cyber PS team. The development was shared by the authorities via their official ‘X’ account on Thursday, May 1.

The victim had earlier lost ₹1,21,000 in a cyber scam involving unauthorised online transactions. The incident involved fraudulent access to the victim’s bank details, resulting in the substantial financial loss.
However, the authorities have recovered ₹88,888 of the total amount and credited it back to the bank account of the affected individual after due verification.
“Further efforts are on to recover the remaining amount,” Guwahati Police posted.
The authorities have also urged citizens to report cyber frauds immediately to the helpline number 1930 for timely action.
