Guwahati Police prohibits crackers sounding more than 125 decibels

GUWAHATI: The West Police District through an order has prohibited crackers sounding more than 125 decibels. Harekhrishna Nath, APS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, West Police District, Guwahati has issued an order, wherein, it is mentioned that no crackers sounding more than 125db should be burst during the Kali Puja and Diwali. 

The order further prohibits bursting of crackers after 10:00 PM, citing guidelines issued by the Supreme Court of India. This order will remain in force up to the midnight of 8th November, 2018.

Moreover, keeping in mind the oil pipeline and the huge quantities of highly volatile and inflammable products, stored in IOC Betkuchi, Hindustan Petroleum, Gorchuk and all the fuel pumps, the West Police District has prohibited the use of fireworks and bursting of crackers within 500 metres radius of these locations for the safety and security of the installations and the residents.
