GUWAHATI: In a successful operation, the East Guwahati Police Department (EGPD) team from the Jorabat Out Post apprehended an individual identified as Rahul Chetri from Hastinapur.
The arrest led to the confiscation of 24 vials of heroin, totalling 31.7 grams (including the vials).
Additionally, 11 empty vials and ₹2069 in cash were also seized during the operation. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the suspect.
The EGPD's action came in response to intelligence received by the authorities, indicating potential drug trafficking activities in the area.
During the thorough search, the police discovered 24 vials of heroin, weighing a total of 31.7 grams, concealed by the suspect.
Alongside the narcotics, the officers found 11 empty vials, hinting at previous transactions, and ₹2069 in cash, presumed to be proceeds from drug sales.
Rahul Chetri, an 18-year-old resident of Hastinapur, is now facing serious legal consequences as the law enforcement authorities have initiated formal legal action against him. The suspect will be presented before the court to answer for his alleged involvement in drug-related offences
Taking to Facebook, Police Commissionerate Guwahati stated, “Acting on an intel, an EGPD team from Jorabat OP of Basistha PS arrested one Rahul Chetri (18) of Hastinapur and recovered 24 vials of heroin, weighing 31.7 gms (with vials). 11 empty vials & ₹2069 were also recovered. Legal action initiated.”
