GUWAHATI: Guwahati police on Tuesday, April 29, apprehended two individuals in a theft case in the Jalukbari area, leading to the recovery of a large quantity of stolen materials from a nearby scrapyard. The arrests were made by a team from the Jalukbari Police Station with assistance from local residents.

The two accused have been identified as Ebrahim Ali (25), a resident of Goalpara, and Mrinal Hoque (26), hailing from Gauripur. Both were apprehended at the scene of the crime, after which an extensive search operation was conducted at a nearby scrapyard linked to the duo.
Following the search, the police recovered a large cache of stolen property, including iron and mechanical components, electronic items, and vehicle parts. Among the items seized were four railing angles, five springs, six iron pipes, two truck jacks, a scooty engine, three tires with rickshaw rings, three small gas cylinders, and 20 CCTV power supply hard disks.
Additional recovered items included five weighing scales, several pipe wrenches, hammers, electric wires, drill and cutting machines, a laptop, inverter set, gas stove, fans, an exhaust unit, and a car tyre with rim, among others.
Police officials confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated against the arrested individuals, while further investigation is underway to identify any broader network or scrapyard operations linked to the thefts.
