GUWAHATI: The Garchuk Police and Special Operations Group (SOG) in a joint operation apprehended 17 suspected online scammers from a hotel on Lakshmi Mandir Path, in Guwahati’s Boragaon area on Monday, November 11.

Speaking to GPlus, an official from Garchuk police station confirmed the incident, saying, “A gang of 17 online scammers has been apprehended in Boragaon. They conduct a variety of fraudulent transactions through online scams and use a corporate bank account for swift transactions within seconds."
The operation yielded a substantial haul of items, including three cheques valued at ₹20 lakh and three cheques valued ₹10 lakh, numerous ATM cards, mobile phones, voter identification cards, three hard disks, and various other suspicious materials. Additionally, six luxury vehicles were seized during the raid.
The police are set to transfer the case to the cyber police for an in-depth investigation into the group's operations and digital tactics.
