GUWAHATI: The Guwahati-North Guwahati Ropeway will start functioning from tomorrow, August 31 for the public.
As soon as the ropeway stopped functioning after two days of its inauguration, people started questioning the motive of the government for inaugurating the wire car.
However, today after resolving the issue a highly placed source in GMDA talking to G Plus said, "Every month the ropeway will require two-three days of maintenance for the safety of the public and accordingly the rope was functioning since long but the maintenance work was done after the inauguration."

He further added that every year the longest river ropeway of India will have to be closed for public for 15-20 days for full-proof public safety.
The source guaranteed that whenever the ropeway is functioning, it will function only with full proof safety. And accordingly, the recent closure was to make sure that none of the ropeway engines are affected for low power transmission.
It needs to be mentioned that many industries of Assam are not functioning properly because of the low electricity supply.
The ropeway will function for the public from tomorrow and only for a day or two it will be closed in a month for a safety check, said the source.
