GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation is organising a plantation drive on September 17 at Geeta Mandir, Mother Teresa Road.

This initiative has been taken to celebrate 10 years of adherence to the Swacch Bharat mission, implemented in 2014 at Rajghat, New Delhi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.
"We invite all to join hands with us for a Swachh Guwahati," shared GMC's official account on X. "Come, be a Swachhata Warrior!"
A scientific report in the journal Nature on the Swachh Bharat Mission’s (SBM) has recently highlighted that the programme gave cause to many alternative spinoffs, such as providing dignity and security to girls and women. It has also asserted that the Mission has annually saved the lives of 60,000-70,000 infants and children under the age of five.
