Guwahati: Mobile Phone Theft Racket Busted In Jalukbari

GUWAHATI: A team from the Jalukbari Outpost of the West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) apprehended a gang involved in stealing and snatching mobile phones on Monday.

The operation, carried out late last night, resulted in the recovery of 16 stolen mobile phones and the apprehension of three individuals identified as Gobinda Singh Maheto aged 31, Laxman Singh aged 25, and Nageshwar Nuniya aged 34, all hailing from Tinpahar in Jharkhand.

The bust on this illicit operation came after an investigation by the WGPD, which had been tracking a surge in mobile phone thefts and snatching incidents in the area.

The accused trio, Gobinda Singh Maheto, Laxman Singh, and Nageshwar Nuniya, were promptly taken into custody. They are now in police custody, facing legal proceedings for their alleged involvement in the illegal reception of stolen mobile phones.

Guwahati Police also took to Twitter to put out, “A WGPD team from Jalukbari OP busted a gang of receivers of stolen/snatched mobile phones after a raid last night. 16 stolen phones were recovered. 3 thugs - Gobinda Singh Maheto (31), Laxman Singh (25) & Nageshwar Nuniya (34), all from Tinpahar in Jharkhand, were arrested.
